love song for a thunderbird

The Grand Theatre

A darkened auditorium, there is a glow of embers in centre stage that is reminiscent of the glow of being inside the sweat lodge. Thunderbird dances across the stage in the dark, some of his costume is visible and glows in the dark. Thunderbird takes their place in a perch. Stage lighting reveals Nokomis sitting alone in her chair and singing “Atata”. Jackrabbit enters and gives Nokomis a gentle shoulder rub then sits on the floor beside her. Jackrabbit rests their head on her lap. Nokomis continues to hum the tune, appearing to be deep in thought. There is exterior noise to move from ceremony and song to urban apartment setting.
